
A former monk, identified as Rajangane Saddharathana, who had been expelled from the Buddhist monastic order, has been assaulted by two unidentified individuals, police said.
The incident reportedly took place on June 06, according to police.
It is reported that two masked men had arrived in a van and attacked the victim before fleeing the scene.
The injured former monk has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
The motive for the assault and the identities of the attackers have not yet been established.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
